Joseph Pilates, the ailing son of a prize winning gymnast in the 19th century
in response to years of childhood suffering from rheumatic fever and a host of ills, focused his life on improving his health and strength. He designed his program specifically for rehabilitation and strength and stamina.
Practiced correctly
Pilates will strengthen your core muscles (deep abdominal, back and pelvic floor muscles) and your deep back muscles, helping you achieve relief for your back pain.
Pilates also teaches awareness of neutral alignment of the spine
alignment that is neither perfectly fat nor overly arched; strengthening the deep muscles that support the alignment are important to prevent and alleviate back pain.
If you try to do pilates by yourself injuries are always possible.
That is why it's important to be under the watchful eye of a certified instructor. We are here and ready to help you achieve success in your training at the premiere Wellington Pilates studio, My Pilates.
People that suffer from back problems, like herniated discs of the spine, can not do exercises without supervision.
If they do, they may do more harm than good. Pilates is low-impact and does not induce inflammation or overuse syndromes. At My Pilates of Wellington, our goal is to teach you how to do the exercises the correct way. We give you enough information on basic solutions to help yourself prevent further injury and to feel better today. Of course, you should always seek medical advice for an acute injury from a licensed M.D. or medical professional.

Wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in.

My Pilates LLC is not responsible for any injury that occurs on the premises
and reserves the right to dismiss any student who is disrupting the harmony of the class.
There is a penalty-free cancellation of this contract within 3 days, exclusive of holidays and weekends, of its making
upon the mailing or delivery of written notice to My Pilates, and refund upon such notice of all monies paid under the contract, except that the My Pilates studio may retain an amount computed by dividing the number of occasions studio services are to be rendered into the total contract price and multiplying the result by the number of complete days that have passed since the making of the contract or, if appropriate, by the number of occasions that the My Pilates studio services have been rendered. A refund shall be issued within 30 days after receipt of the notice of cancellation made within the 3-day provision. After 3 days, all payments are final.
Credit for pre-paid classes or sessions may be transferred to a family member.
MyBarre is a high energy, low impact, fat burning workout.
Its focus is on intensive isometric movements that sculpt the thighs, tone and firm the buttocks, flatten the abdominals and define the arms. Focused stretching to lengthen, tone and increase flexibility compliments a total body workout. MyBarre incorporates current biomechanical principles of Pilates, Ballet and general fitness concepts and is available to all fitness levels for those that safely want to change their appearance and have fun doing so!
MyBarre class is 55 minutes in length in an energetic group setting.
The class starts in the center where we incorporate light weights and some simple movements to increase the heart rate, warm up the muscles and bring mobility to the spine.
The Ballet workout focuses on very isolated movements that target the thighs and the seat.
These exercises are easy to learn and are also designed to improve coordination, strength and balance.
Abdominal work follows where we challenge the muscles of the upper and lower abdominals, in both supine and side lying positions
while promoting stability in the pelvis and lumbar spine throughout. Prone extension exercises promote strengthening the muscles of the mid and lower back while engaging and lengthening the abdominals. The use of proper breath, exceptional cueing and modifications are given to promote effective and safe exercise.
Focused stretching encourages flexibility, range of motion and a sense of well being.
MyBarre is a perfect compliment to Pilates sessions or done on its own to produce excellent results.

Barre is the smooth railing held by the Ballet dancer for balance. In “My Pilates” we bring the two together to make a powerful workout.

The PSC program is an Internationally recognized certification program with a Cutting Edge Approach to Pilates Teacher Training. My Pilates, an affiliate of PSC, teaches a contemporary approach to the method developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s; one that preserves the essence of the original technique but incorporates today’s knowledge and principals. Small class sizes and high contact hours with review and anatomy provided.

All Modulars meet 2 times weekly for approximatly 3-4 hours each
this allows rest and retention time for the material as well as time for practice. The Full program meets for 16 weeks 2x weekly. Modulars vary between 2-6 weeks in length.

My name is Darwin and I want to let you know how my experience was with My Pilates. I never took pilates before and I heard a lot about it so I decided to try it…OMG. My Pilates is Amazing!! My knees are not the best and I informed Elena ( the instructor ) and she was great. We did all these great stretches to start then went into all these incredible exercises. I got a total body workout and my knees were perfect. The studio is very nice and clean and they have alot of machines. I also saw a long ballet barre in the studio and asked Elena if she teaches ballet and she said no, that bar is for a Barre class which is a combination of aerobic heart pumping exercise and matt pilates. I can't wait to take that class. The prices are great and they have alot of classes to choose from. The location is perfect, close and near everything wellington has to offer. I am soooo glad that I found My Pilates!

Hey…my name is Greg and I'm a fire fighter and I recently pulled a muscle in my lower back for which I needed to seek medical attention because of the severe pain. The Dr. set up some physical therapy sessions which was exspensive and did very little for my back. One of the girls at the fire station told me about pilates and how well it works for her so I decided to try it. OMG!!! no more back pain and I'm talking only 5 one hour sessions! Elena and My Pilates are fantastic and the price is great (even cheaper than physical therapy).

My Pilates Wellington-best in Pilates that Wellington has to offer. Elena is a wonderful instructor and never yells at her students. I feel comfortable in her classes and she does not judge you so you don't feel stupid when you can not do an exercise just right. You can dress comfortably for class. We offer an Introductory Private Package for new clients! To be exempt from the introductory private session requirement; you must have some prior pilates experience and know how to operate the equipment without damage or injury.
Our Private and Shared Sessions includes weight-bearing exercises to strengthen the entire musculature of the body
